Final Correct Site for WikiTeach lesson plan: Monet Paintings

I am having a time getting this site to post properly.. but you know what they say...third time is a charm! Sorry, I had previously posted the incorrect link. This lesson plan is an art history and painting lesson that intergrates flickr as a means of allowing students to see close ups of waterlilies, which are the primary subject of Monets' "Waterlilies".

Hi,
I am glad you reposted the link to your lesson. I am an Impressionism lover from way back. I enjoyed your lesson and could picture it in action. Your use of Flickr felt genuine and seemed an integral part of the lesson. I checked out the URL you included and was surprised to find there are more than 22,000 photos tagged as waterlilies. Some of the photos were outstanding. I was unsure how to use Flickr in a lesson myself. Your example gives me more of an idea of how to include it in the future. Thanks.

I teach elementary art, and have always found it difficult to adequately explain(in my opinion)"impressionism" to children. I've always thought the concept of the meaning was too much for them to grasp. Sure they can mimic the style, but do they really understand the whole idea behind the movement?
I can always use lesson plans like this. It is clear, expectations are plain and straightforward. Students have access to visuals through use of technology, and they actually produce a work of art using hands-on method.
I like that they are NOT merely copying Monet's waterlilies, but using the theme, and incorporating it into drawings of their own.
I want to use this lesson plan. I am saving it and e-mailing it to my work e-mail.
Wonderful plan on impressionism for the little ones!
I enjoyed reading it.
